Why Conduct a Salary Survey?

Welcome to the 2024 Audiology Salary Survey

Every year, I gather data from hearing care professionals across the U.S. and Canada—including audiologists, hearing instrument specialists (HIS), and audiology assistants—to gain real insight into salaries, trends, and workplace conditions within our field. What started as a simple curiosity has grown into an annual community project that helps demystify earnings in audiology and brings transparency to a profession that often lacks it.

This year, the 2024 survey received over 800 responses from professionals across all 50 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. From private practices to ENT clinics, hospitals to retail settings, the variety of submissions paints a rich and nuanced picture of how roles and compensation vary depending on geography, credentials, and work environments.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve likely seen individual salary snapshots shared in real time. These quick-hit visuals give a glimpse into what people are earning, but this blog series will dive deeper. Here, I’ll break down averages and medians by region, analyze pay differences between settings and credentials, highlight trends year-over-year, and even share anonymous commentary that sheds light on the lived experience behind the numbers.

My goal is to provide a comprehensive, honest look at where we stand as a profession—and where we might be headed. Whether you're negotiating a contract, considering a career path, or simply curious how your compensation compares, I hope these insights prove valuable and empowering.
