Podcasts for Every Audiologist
It's an interesting and scary time out there. In light of the recent pandemic, people are being asked to stay home and close their workplaces. From a pessimistic view, this could result in a major blow to the economy and to our clinics. However, we could also use this down time as an opportunity to get creative, refocus, grow and get ready for when business is back to usual.
How often do we wish we had more time in our schedules to learn about the latest research, take a new course, work on our marketing, or attend an interesting lecture? As for audiology students, unfortunately with class and conference cancellations limiting your learning and networking opportunities, you too could make use of this time to do some independent learning.
Podcasts have been making a lot of noise lately (pun intended), and growing rapidly in popularity. As a professional or student, we are always looking for ways to expand our knowledge, but we may be short on time to sit and read all day. Podcasts are a great way to learn and be entertained while you multi-task, like getting ready in the morning, walking the dog, or washing dishes.
I'm a bit of a podcast junkie myself (it's the only way I can take a long car ride or fold my laundry). To my delight, a number of audiology and hearing related podcasts have started to crop up in recent years. Below, I've compiled a list of podcasts that I have found helpful in my career. If you know of any other audiology podcasts, or business podcasts that relate to our field, please comment below so I can check them out!
Bonus: Below each podcast, I've recommended an episode that I think would be a great listen for audiology students and early career professionals.
Please stay safe, keep your distance, and wash your hands! Wishing you all the best as we navigate this road ahead!
